How to use an online focus timer

Choose a focus rhythm that fits the task

A Pomodoro timer pairs 25 minutes of focused work with a five-minute break. Shorter 10- or 15-minute timers can make it easier to start a small task, while a 52/17 rhythm or 90-minute deep-work block may suit longer projects. Pick a preset or set your own focus and break durations. These are starting points, not productivity rules; adjust them to your attention, workload, and accessibility needs.

Keep time visible while you work in other tabs

When the timer runs, BFOTKit puts the remaining minutes in this browser tab’s title, such as [24:59] Focus Timer. You can glance at the tab without keeping the timer page in front. Browsers may delay background updates to save power, but each update recalculates from the end time so the countdown catches up instead of losing elapsed time. Keep the page open for the timer and sound to work.

Move from a focus block into a break

At the end of a focus block, the timer records one completed session for today and moves into the selected break. Stand up, stretch, get water, or rest your eyes during the pause. When the break ends, the next focus block begins. Use Pause or Reset whenever your plan changes; the timer does not force a schedule or block websites.

Use your own alarm or mix local ambient sound

Choose an MP3 alarm from your device to replace the built-in chime. The selected file stays in this tab and is not uploaded. The ambient mixer can synthesize white noise, low brown noise, and a gentle rain-like layer using the Web Audio API. Browsers may suspend audio after inactivity; interact with the page if sound does not resume. Use a comfortable volume and stop audio when you are finished.

Review today’s sessions on this device

The history chart shows recent daily focus-session counts saved in local storage. It is a private convenience, not an account or a synced backup; clearing site data or changing browsers can remove it. BFOTKit does not receive the session log. The tool is free to use without sign-up, and the timer calculations run locally.

HELP / FOCUS SESSIONS

Focus timer questions

How long should a focus session be?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose the Focus Timer. Try 25 minutes for a standard Pomodoro, 10 or 15 minutes for a short task, or 52 or 90 minutes for longer work. Choose a length you can sustain and adjust it to the task.

What is the 52/17 work rule?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose the 52/17 preset to try a 52-minute focus block followed by a 17-minute break. It is one optional routine; a useful interval depends on the task and the person.

What should I do during a Pomodoro break?

Open BFOTKit.com and start a Pomodoro focus timer. During the break, step away from the screen, stretch, walk, or get water. Use a quiet activity that gives your attention a rest.

Does the countdown stay visible in another browser tab?

Open BFOTKit.com and start the Focus Timer. The remaining time is added to this page’s browser-tab title. Background tabs may update less often, but the timer recalculates elapsed time when it runs again.

Can I upload my own timer alarm sound?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose an MP3 in the Completion Sound section. The file is played locally in your browser and is not sent to a server.

Does the timer save my focus history online?

Open BFOTKit.com and use the Focus Timer. Completed sessions are counted in local storage on the current browser and device; they are not uploaded or synced.

Can this work as an ADHD-friendly visual timer?

Open BFOTKit.com and try a shorter 10- or 15-minute focus block with the large visual countdown. People differ in what helps them focus; this timer is a planning aid, not medical advice or ADHD treatment.

Can I use the timer on a phone?

Open BFOTKit.com on your phone and choose a focus preset. The controls adapt to a small screen. Keep the page open, since mobile browsers may pause background tabs or audio to save battery.
