How to check whether a website is online

When a page will not open, the whole website may still be working. Your connection, DNS settings, VPN, or that particular page may be the cause. BFOTKit’s website status checker sends a request from its server and shows the response it receives. Enter a domain such as example.com or a full URL, then choose Check website.

Read the HTTP status correctly

A 200 response means the address answered normally. Redirects lead to another address, which the checker follows up to a limit. A 404 means the server answered but that page was not found. A 403 means access was denied; some websites block automated checks. A 500-series response points to a problem on the destination server. If the request fails or times out, the result is inconclusive rather than proof that the website is down everywhere.

Response time and limits

The reported time covers this single request, including redirects. It varies with network conditions, server location, and the website’s protections. This tool does not sign in to private pages, test every region, or monitor uptime continuously. To see whether the issue is limited to your device, compare this result with your browser and try another connection.

Visibility, security, and speed

The overview shows whether the page has a title, description, canonical URL, or noindex directive. These signals do not reveal search rankings or confirm Google indexing. The security section reports HTTPS and the presence of selected headers; it is not a vulnerability audit. Response time ends when response headers arrive at BFOTKit’s server, including redirects, and is not a full browser load measurement.

The SEO percentage is the share of seven basic checks found in the initial HTML: title, description, H1, canonical URL, page language, viewport, and no noindex directive. Each check counts equally. A page can pass them all and still have content, link, mobile experience, or indexing problems. No percentage is shown when the page cannot be read as successful HTML.

Website Status Checker FAQs

How can I check if a website is down?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. Enter the domain and select Check website. BFOTKit requests the page from its server and shows the HTTP response, elapsed time, and redirects.

Is the website down for everyone or just me?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. This result shows whether BFOTKit’s server can reach the address. If it works here but not for you, check your connection, DNS, VPN, or browser cache. One check cannot establish worldwide availability.

Does a 404 or 403 mean the website is offline?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. No. The server responded, but the requested page was missing (404) or access was denied (403). That differs from a website that cannot be reached.

Does this tool monitor uptime or send alerts?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. No. It performs one check when you click the button. Continuous uptime monitoring and alerts require a separate monitoring service.

Can this tool tell whether my page ranks in Google?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. BFOTKit checks basic page signals such as the title, description, canonical URL, and noindex directives. It cannot confirm Google indexing, rankings, or traffic. Use Google Search Console for those records.

What does the SEO percentage mean?

Open BFOTKit.com and choose “Website Status Checker” to get started for free. It is the share of seven basic on-page checks passed: title, description, H1, canonical URL, language, viewport, and no noindex directive. It is not a Google score and does not predict rankings, traffic, or indexing.
